Currently Australia’s biggest public transport project, updated insight is provided into the civil & structural engineering aspects of the several projects that now make up Sydney Metro. It is delivering the necessary step change in rail infrastructure to support Sydney’s vision of three connected cities and safe, fast, frequent, turn-up-and-go services, with customers at the heart of the design.

Scheduled to open in 2024, the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project is progressing with tunnelling complete between Chatswood and Sydenham. Tunnel fit out and track laying has now commenced with materials and equipment being delivered into tunnels across the line.

Construction on Sydney Metro West commenced in 2020 with the first tunnel boring machine for the 24 kilometre line to be in the ground before the end of 2022.
