Temporary works case studies: designer's and contractor's perspective

TWf Australia invites all members in Victoria and others online to attend the second-ever hybrid event. The event will feature multiple speakers from consulting and contracting backgrounds, sharing valuable project case studies.
Case Study 1: South Geelong to Waurn Ponds Duplication This project upgraded the Geelong Line, enabling more services.
Key features included:
- Grade Separations: Rail over road bridges at Fyans Street and Surf Coast Highway to eliminate level crossings.
- Station Upgrades: Enhancements at South Geelong and Marshall stations with new platforms, ramps, lifts, overpasses, and parking.
- Shared User Paths: Over 5 km of paths connecting South Geelong to Waurn Ponds.
- Track Duplication and Signalling: 8 km of track and signalling upgrades.
- Water Pipelines: Construction of 2.1 km of large-diameter pipelines.
- Utility Relocations: Extensive utility relocations.
- The Fyans Street crossing removal featured the installation of three rail bridges using a remote-controlled transporter, requiring detailed planning and precise construction.
Case Study 2: The Bond, NSW
- Mass Timber Construction The Bond is a six-storey mass timber building with a four-storey concrete basement. TTW collaborated with contractors to overcome sequencing challenges and implement temporary works.
As mass timber construction is rare in Australia, attendees will gain insights into temporary works and lessons learned on this innovative project.  This hybrid event offers valuable insights into engineering and temporary works in construction.
