Building resilience to natural hazard risk
An overview of Australia’s natural hazard risk profile and key drivers of future risk.
About the event
Over the last three years Australia has been reminded again of the nature of natural hazard extremes that can strike our nation.
Building resilience to natural hazard events is crucial in the face of expanding communities and climate change.
The presentation will explore the context of natural hazards in Australia and draw on research into how Australia can become more resilient in the face of growing natural hazard related challenges.
From this presentation you will gain an understanding of:
- the relative risk profile from bushfires, floods, cyclones, earthquakes and hailstorms based on loss
- what is driving the changes in risk profile
- opportunities to build better resilience and their cost effectiveness
- the challenges and moving forward.
