Energy Storage Systems in Microgrids
This presentation provides a brief overview on available energy storage technologies and the practicality of employing these technologies from economic and technical perspectives. Furthermore, the application of energy storage devices and the potential benefits that they can provide to the distribution network are outlined.
Nevertheless, owing to the high capital cost associated with BESS and its short lifespan compared to the other MG's components; they can be unjustifiable if they are oversized or may not be able to fulfil the system requirement if undersized. Addressing the BESS sizing problem, different indicators and criteria can be defined according to the primary objectives and requirements of the system.
